  • Class 4 Winds is dedicated to providing educational opportunities and information to stakeholders as they seek to capitalize on the enduring benefits to be gained from promoting the region’s vast wind energy resources.

  • Class 4 Winds is dedicated to communicating about the region to the wind energy industry and supporting the development and growth of wind power and the manufacture and export of renewable energy.

  • Class 4 Winds is dedicated to providing support to those who advocate on behalf of the region as they seek to champion the region as an affordable, favorable location for the development of wind power and associated industries.

  • Class 4 Winds is knowledgeable about wind energy resources and activities and provides a link between landowners and wind developers and between wind developers and regional resources.

With this vision in mind, Class 4 Winds has four goals.

Class 4 Winds Goals

Education Goal

Class 4 Winds is developing a public education program that addresses the legal, landowner, interconnection, environmental, and economic impacts of wind energy. This goal will be achieved through:

  • Making presentations that increase the understanding of wind energy throughout the region.
  • Conducting landowner seminars.
  • Developing programs that enhance understanding of renewable resources as part of a balanced energy portfolio and demonstrate how wind energy is generated.
  • Serving as a liaison to outstanding technical expertise in the region.

Communication Goal

Class 4 Winds is delivering a strong message that the Class 4 Winds region is committed to the development of wind power and the manufacture and export of renewable energy equipment. This goal will be achieved through:

  • Promoting dialogue between stakeholder groups that will allow the growth of wind development in the region.
  • Developing communications tools that will keep stakeholders informed on wind energy developments, technologies, regulatory actions, transmission issues, siting policies, landowner issues, and wind power project developments.
  • Participating in appropriate forums and conferences to communicate how the Class 4 Winds region can support the renewable energy industry.

Advocacy Goal

Class 4 Winds provides a resource for diverse interests to be heard and be a part of a unified effort to communicate wind-related objectives to those who advocate for the region. This goal will be achieved through:

  • Listening to the stakeholders and determining the consensus on different issues and conveying those issues to advocacy groups.
  • Serving as an information resource on wind energy technical and policy matters to people who represent the region.

Synergy Goal

Class 4 Winds is knowledgeable about wind energy resources and activities and provides a link between landowners and wind developers and between wind developers and regional resources. This goal will be achieved through:

  • Participating with area communities to plan and sponsor promotional events related to wind power.
  • Partnering with regional stakeholders to be knowledgeable about regional resources and interests.
  • Communicating with wind developers to make them aware of the Class 4 Winds region.
